Understanding Piles

What Are Piles (Haemorrhoids)?

Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen blood vessels in and around the rectum and anus. They are extremely common — affecting approximately 75% of people at some point in their lives — yet remain a condition that patients are often embarrassed to discuss or delay treating.

There are two types: internal haemorrhoids (inside the rectum, usually painless but causing bleeding) and external haemorrhoids (under the skin around the anus, painful and itchy). Grades 1–3 internal haemorrhoids respond very well to advanced homoeopathic treatment.

Surgery is not the only option: Many patients are told they need surgical haemorrhoidectomy or rubber band ligation. For Grade 1, 2, and most Grade 3 haemorrhoids, advanced homeopathy can shrink the haemorrhoids, stop bleeding, relieve pain, and — crucially — address the chronic constipation that caused them in the first place.

Causes of Piles

🚽
Chronic Constipation
The most common cause. Straining increases rectal venous pressure, causing haemorrhoids.
🤰
Pregnancy
Increased abdominal pressure in pregnancy causes haemorrhoids — very common and very effectively treated with homeopathy.
🪑
Sedentary Lifestyle
Long hours of sitting (desk jobs, driving) impair rectal circulation.
🍔
Low Fibre Diet
Insufficient dietary fibre leads to hard stools and straining.
🧬
Genetic Predisposition
Family history of piles — advanced homoeopathic treatment addresses the inherited susceptibility.
⬆️
Increased Abdominal Pressure
Obesity, heavy lifting, chronic cough — all increase rectal venous pressure.

Symptoms

  • Bright red blood in the toilet or on toilet paper after passing stool
  • Pain, discomfort, or burning sensation around the anus
  • Itching or irritation in the anal region
  • Soft lump near the anus that may protrude (Grade 3–4)
  • Incomplete feeling after bowel movements
  • Mucus discharge after stool
1
Individualised Case Taking
Complete review of piles history — grade, duration, symptoms, frequency of bleeding, constipation pattern, diet, and lifestyle factors.
2
Constitutional Prescription
A homeopathic prescription addressing both the haemorrhoids themselves and their root cause — typically chronic constipation, dietary factors, or increased venous laxity. This dual approach prevents recurrence.
3
Dietary & Lifestyle Guidance
High-fibre dietary guidance, fluid intake recommendations, and posture/exercise advice to reduce rectal venous pressure and support treatment.
4
Progress Monitoring
Follow-up every 3–4 weeks to assess symptom improvement and adjust prescription. Most patients see significant improvement within 6–8 weeks.
Week 2–4Pain, itching, and burning reduce significantly
Month 1–2Bleeding episodes decrease in frequency and volume
Month 2–3Haemorrhoid tissue begins to shrink
Month 3–4Most Grade 1–2 cases fully resolved
Month 4–6Grade 3 cases show significant improvement or resolution
Can homeopathy avoid piles surgery?
+
For Grade 1 and Grade 2 haemorrhoids, the answer is almost always yes. For Grade 3, advanced homeopathy resolves or significantly improves the majority of cases. Grade 4 (prolapsed and irreducible) typically requires surgery, but advanced homoeopathic treatment can manage symptoms and prevent worsening.
How is piles treated in homeopathy?
+
The prescription is individualized based on your complete health picture — addressing your complete health picture, not just the haemorrhoids. Commonly used remedies include Nux Vomica, Aesculus, Hamamelis, Aloe, and others — but the specific remedy is always selected based on your individual symptom profile and constitution, not by condition alone.
Can piles recur after homeopathic treatment?
+
If only the haemorrhoids are treated without addressing the root cause (chronic constipation, diet, lifestyle), recurrence is possible. Dr. Meenakshi's advanced homoeopathic approach addresses both — which is why recurrence rates are significantly lower than after surgical treatment alone.
Is homeopathy safe for piles during pregnancy?
+
Completely safe. Homeopathic treatment for piles during pregnancy is one of the very few options available that carries no risk to the baby. It is also highly effective, as pregnancy-related piles respond very well to advanced homoeopathic treatment.
I have both piles and fissures. Can both be treated together?
+
Yes. Anal fissures (painful tears in the anal lining) frequently coexist with piles and are treated under the same individualised prescription as per homoeopathic principles. Many of the remedies effective for haemorrhoids are also effective for fissures.
