Understanding Thyroid Disorders
The Thyroid — Why It Matters for Everything
The thyroid gland regulates metabolism, energy production, body temperature, hair growth, menstrual cycles, and mood. When it functions abnormally — whether underactive (hypothyroidism) or overactive (hyperthyroidism) — the effects are felt throughout the entire body.
In India, hypothyroidism affects approximately 1 in 10 adults, with women affected 5–8 times more often than men. The standard treatment — lifelong synthetic thyroid hormone (Thyroxine) — manages the hormone level but does not address why the thyroid stopped functioning correctly in the first place.
What advanced homeopathy does differently: Rather than replacing the thyroid hormone from outside, homeopathy works to restore the thyroid's own functional capacity — by addressing the autoimmune, hormonal, and nutritional factors driving the dysfunction. This is why TSH levels genuinely improve in many patients, not just symptom scores.
Types of Thyroid Disorders We Treat
⬇️Hypothyroidism
Underactive thyroid — fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, hair loss, constipation, depression. Most common type in India.
⬆️Hyperthyroidism
Overactive thyroid — weight loss, palpitations, anxiety, heat intolerance, tremors, insomnia.
🛡️Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
Autoimmune thyroid disease — immune re-balancing is essential, not just hormone replacement.
🔥Graves' Disease
Autoimmune hyperthyroidism — advanced homoeopathic treatment to regulate immune attack on thyroid.
🤰Post-Partum Thyroiditis
Thyroid dysfunction after delivery — very common, often missed, treated effectively with homeopathy.
🧬Thyroid Nodules
Benign thyroid nodules — conservative constitutional management alongside regular monitoring.
How Thyroid Affects Hair and Skin
Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism cause significant hair loss. If your hair is falling and your thyroid is abnormal, treating both simultaneously is essential. A hair fall prescription alone — without addressing the thyroid — will produce incomplete results. This is one of the most commonly missed connections in hair loss treatment.
Similarly, hypothyroidism causes dry skin, nail brittleness, and swelling (myxedema), while hyperthyroidism causes fine, thin hair and warm, moist skin. Advanced Homeopathy addresses the thyroid imbalance and its downstream effects on hair and skin together.
Treatment Process
How We Treat Thyroid Disorders
1
Thyroid History & Case Taking
Complete review of thyroid symptoms, onset, family history, previous test results, and current medications. Dr. Meenakshi will review your latest TSH, T3, T4, and thyroid antibody levels.
2
Constitutional Prescription
A homeopathic prescription addressing the constitutional factors driving thyroid dysfunction — immune (for Hashimoto's/Graves'), hormonal, nutritional, and emotional stressors.
3
Medication Co-management
Patients on Thyroxine or anti-thyroid medications continue them safely alongside homeopathy. Dose reduction is only considered under guidance when TSH levels normalise.
4
Regular TSH Monitoring
Follow-up every 4–6 weeks with TSH monitoring. Improvements in TSH are documented and guide prescription adjustments.
Month 1–2Energy improves, hair fall reduces, brain fog clears
Month 2–4TSH begins moving towards normal range in many patients
Month 4–6Significant symptom improvement across most patients
Month 6–9TSH normalisation achieved in responsive cases
Month 9+Medication reduction possible under guidance in stable cases
Can homeopathy cure hypothyroidism completely?+
'Cure' depends on the cause and duration. For recent-onset hypothyroidism without severe autoimmune destruction, advanced homeopathy has helped many patients achieve TSH normalisation and reduce or discontinue Thyroxine. For long-standing Hashimoto's with extensive damage, homeopathy significantly improves quality of life and slows progression, but lasting improvement is harder. Dr. Meenakshi will give you an honest assessment.
Can I take homeopathy alongside my Thyroxine?+
Absolutely yes. Homeopathic medicines are completely safe alongside Thyroxine. They do not interfere with thyroid medication absorption or action. Many patients begin homeopathy while continuing their existing medication, then reduce Thyroxine gradually as TSH normalises — always under medical supervision.
My thyroid is borderline — should I start treatment?+
Borderline hypothyroidism (subclinical) is an ideal time to begin advanced homeopathy, as the thyroid dysfunction is mild and more reversible. Waiting until TSH is severely elevated often means more treatment time is required.
Can thyroid treatment help with thyroid-related hair loss?+
Yes — treating the thyroid constitutionally addresses hair loss directly. The hair fall is a downstream effect of thyroid dysfunction; as the thyroid normalises, hair fall reduces and density gradually returns.
